Mao Hamasaki’s Shocking AV Interview

In an interview, Mao Hamasaki shared some experiences from her career in JAV. It’s another good reminder that JAV is just an illusion.

In a candid, anything-goes interview on ViuTV’s Evening Blow – The Grievance Club, Mao Hamasaki talked about her retirement from JAV. And let’s just say this isn’t your typical retirement talk, more like a raw, no-holds-barred confession.

For those who believe everything they see in JAV — with comments like ‘you can see she likes it’ — and forget that it’s just an illusion meant to please the viewer, her interview is a powerful reminder.

Mao, now 31, was discovered at the age of 18 for her striking beauty and F-cup figure. Her rise in the industry was nothing short of meteoric. Fluent in both Mandarin and Korean, she quickly distinguished herself in the elite ranks of multilingual JAV performers. Her popularity soared across Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and other regions. Yet behind the glamorous image lay a harsh, demanding reality—as she herself would later reveal.

At the height of her fame, Mao disclosed that she was sometimes shooting two adult films in a single day. To stay physically prepared—especially for scenes involving ‘orgasms’—she consumed up to 10 liters of water daily to avoid dehydration. But the extreme regimen took a toll on her health. She suffered frequent bladder infections, bouts of cystitis, and most dangerously, water intoxication. “There was one time,” she recounted, “I drank so much water that when the director gave instructions, I couldn’t understand a thing. My brain had just… shut off.”

Mao was filming a bondage scene — tied to a tree, no less — when an earthquake suddenly struck. The crew panicked and fled, leaving her literally bound and helpless. “I thought, this is real SM now,” she recalled with bitter humor. It took them ten full minutes to realize she was still outside, restrained. Ten minutes. Alone. Shackled. During an earthquake.

If that’s not neglect, what is?

But the breaking point? It didn’t happen on set — it happened at an airport.

She was headed to Taiwan for a promotional event. Her manager couldn’t come, and no one else was sent in his place. To make matters worse, the agency misspelled her name on the ticket. Thirteen years in the industry, and they couldn’t even get her name right.

“I was stranded at the airport, scrambling to buy a new ticket and fix their mistake — while they were already on the plane,”
she said. And when she finally arrived in Taiwan, exhausted but having handled everything herself, the manager didn’t apologize. Instead, he blamed her for the error.

“That’s when I went cold,”
she said. “Thirteen years… and they still couldn’t spell my name.”

Right then, Mao made the biggest decision of her life. She didn’t wait for a press release, didn’t argue with her agency. She took the mic at the adult expo in Taiwan and announced her retirement. No theatrics, no drama — just the truth.
