JAV actress Yua Fukuda deported from New Zealand

Last week, we reported on the arrest and deportation from Taiwan of porn star Mai Fujisaki, who had allegedly traveled there to engage in sex work.

Such cases are increasing (due to debts, the weak yen, and limited economic prospects in Japan), so much so that they are having serious repercussions for solo female travelers from East Asia, even when traveling for entirely legitimate reasons. Another story from last week involved Japanese adult-video actress Yua Fukuda, who was detained at an airport in New Zealand, held for six hours, and then deported.

On June 12, Fukuda revealed on X how she was escorted away by 10 police officers for questioning, had her luggage seized, was held in a dirty cell, and was even drug-tested.

“All I wanted was to enjoy a relaxing solo trip abroad, but now I have to give up even that dream,” she complained.

The officers were suspicious because she did not have a detailed travel itinerary, though she did have hotel and tour bus reservations. Even if her purpose was solely personal leisure, New Zealand authorities may have suspected that someone fitting her profile was entering the country to engage in sex work. While that might seem discriminatory, border officials often make decisions based on experience and perceived risk, erring on the side of caution.

Known to fans as Yuachi or Yuachan, the 21-year-old Osaka-born performer made her adult-video debut for Moodyz in 2025 and is known for her youthful image and H-cup figure. Earlier this year, she released her first print and digital photobooks. She previously worked under the stage name Mashiro Asagiri (which she unusually romanized as “Masilo Asagil”), and similarly spells her current surname as “Fucuda.”

It is possible that border officials recognized the actress as an adult entertainer, potentially increasing their suspicions that she intended to engage in sex work. However, performers in the industry almost always use stage names that differ from their legal identities precisely to avoid complications in everyday activities such as banking, housing, and employment.
